Sleeping Under the Stars at 4,600m
I never thought I could sleep in a luxury bed while staring at the Milky Way through a transparent dome. The Salkantay glacier right in front of you at sunrise — absolutely unreal. Worth every penny.

This itinerary is designed for travelers who want to experience the most iconic section of the Inca Trail without committing to a multi-day expedition. Over two days, you will walk the final and most scenic stretch of the original Inca path, visiting archaeological sites hidden in the cloud forest before arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate.
It is a condensed journey, but not a reduced one. It captures the essence of the Inca Trail in its most efficient form.
The journey begins early with a transfer from Cusco to the train station, followed by a scenic ride through the Sacred Valley to Km 104, the starting point of the trek.
From here, the trail enters the cloud forest, gradually ascending along original Inca stone paths. Early in the hike, you visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba, before continuing toward one of the highlights of the route: Wiñay Wayna.
After a break and exploration of the site, the trail continues toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu appears.
From here, you descend toward the citadel of Machu Picchu, then take your time at the best view point and take the posscard pictures of Machu Picchu, before taking a short bus ride to Aguas Calientes.
The second day begins early with a bus ride up to Machu Picchu for a guided exploration of the citadel.
Unlike Day 1’s distant viewpoint, this is a complete immersion into the site itself, walking through terraces, temples, and ceremonial areas while understanding the architectural and cultural significance of the Inca civilization.
After the guided tour, there is time to explore independently before returning to Aguas Calientes.
In the afternoon, you board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transport to Cusco. • The Finish: Guided tour of Machu Picchu and return journey to Cusco

Real experiences from travelers who slept under the Andean sky
I never thought I could sleep in a luxury bed while staring at the Milky Way through a transparent dome. The Salkantay glacier right in front of you at sunrise — absolutely unreal. Worth every penny.
Sky DomeWe did the full Salkantay Trek and stayed at the dome on night two. After a hard day of hiking, coming back to a real bed, hot shower and that view of the mountain? Nothing compares to that.
Salkantay TrekI have camped across Patagonia and Nepal but nothing matched this. The dome is warm, beautifully designed and the silence at 4,600m is something else entirely. I woke up at 3am just to stare at the stars.
