This innovative project was born from the dreams and goals of Martin, a local resident who saw an opportunity in the area to expand the dreams of travelers. From his community at the foot of Ausangate, Martin decided to create a new travel experience in the area with panoramic glamping-style domes, which allow visitors to see the mountain in a new way.
Since he was a child, Martin looked for ways to stand out and find opportunities. He started working in the area as a muleteer from a very young age. He knew that this was the only way he could move forward. Over the years, tourism became part of his life, and he decided to take that passion one step further: to become a leader in the area who could create new experiences for travelers.
This is how the Sky Domes project in Pacchanta was born, a place known for the peace and quiet of the mountains. Here, you can now rest in comfortable beds, enjoy relaxing hot showers in your dome, and stay connected throughout your trip. What are you waiting for? Pacchanta is not as busy as Aguas Calientes or Cusco. Because of this, many travelers may think there is nothing to do. However, this area has slowly become a tourist attraction. Nowadays, in addition to the Sky Domes, we can find restaurants where you can recharge your energy, as well as activities in the local area such as:
Starting early from Pacchanta, you can enjoy a route of almost 16 kilometers through the area and admire the natural beauty of the 7 Lakes circuit. From the Sky Domes base to the viewpoint, you will walk between the mountains, with the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain in the background, like the protective Apu guiding us along the route.
Very close to the domes, almost right next to them, are the Pacchanta Hot Springs. In these thermal pools, you can relax while enjoying views of the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain. These warm-water pools are the perfect way to finish your visit to the area. In addition, you can enjoy snacks and drinks while you relax.
It is always a great idea to go hiking, and even better on the Ausangate route. In Cusco, the weather is very unpredictable because it changes constantly during the day. However, there are two main seasons:
This season is known for little or no rain, clear skies, and bright sunshine in the morning. Even though it can be warm during the day, clear skies in the mountains usually mean one thing: cold nights. The advantage of this season is that you can hike without rain and enjoy excellent views.
During these months, you can expect rain during the day (not all day, but usually for a few hours). However, good equipment can make a big difference. The advantage is that you will see greener landscapes and fields.
Pacchanta is a small village located at the foot of the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain. It is specifically located in the district of Ocongate, part of the province of Quispicanchi in the Cusco region.
It is located in the southern area of Cusco, at about 4,200 meters above sea level.
To get to Pacchanta and the panoramic domes, you need to follow this route:
Take the road south from Cusco. The journey takes almost 3 hours by road toward Tinki, and from this small village, it takes another 45 minutes to reach Pacchanta.
